Ownership & Responsibility

Ownership & Responsibility

“So shall MY word be that goes forth from MY mouth; it shall not return to ME void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it” Isaiah 55:11 (Emphasis added)

2 “MY’s”, 1 “Me” & 2 “I’s”....3 pronouns used 5 times in this verse by God. Why is that? Why would God speak so expressly & so intently about Himself in this scripture? Almost as if He’s overemphasizing the fact that “what I’m saying is about ME, Ok?” I believe God is trying to communicate 2 things to us in this particular text:

The first thing is OWNERSHIP! God takes ownership over the words He speaks. He wants us to know they are His and when He speaks them, He takes ownership over what happens with them & ensures that EXACTLY what He said will come to pass. There’s no doubt about it because He will take ownership over it and make sure it happens.

The 2nd thing is RESPONSIBILITY! He accepts the full responsibility of the results of what HE speaks, not what YOU speak. In other words, He’s drawing a line in the sand saying “I’m responsible for making sure that MY word that I speak comes to pass, not YOUR word that YOU speak!” Sometimes people say things that God didn’t say, yet they expect Him to bring it to pass. God says “aht aht...I’m not taking ownership & responsibility of YOUR words, I’m taking ownership & responsibility of MY words!” It’s your responsibility to ensure that what you say happens...not God’s. What you say might fall to the ground, but what HE says never will because He takes the responsibility to ensure it doesn’t. This is why we have to make sure we’re ONLY saying what God has said!

God’s words are not our words and He makes sure we understand that earlier in that chapter. HE ALSO tells us in John 6:63 “...the words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life”! The words YOU speak to you are not, but the words HE speaks to you are. See the difference? It’s our responsibility to make sure His words become our words by speaking ONLY WHAT HE HAS SPOKEN TO US! Then & only then, will God take ownership and responsibility over what WE SAY! #BERICH
