It Ain't Hard

If they obey and serve Him, They shall spend their days in prosperity, And their years in pleasures.

Job 36:11 NKJV

As I was meditating the above scriptural text, God spoke to me clearly and said "It ain't hard to live a rich life with prosperous days and pleasurable years...all you gotta do is do what I tell you and serve Me...PERIOD!!!"

I often wonder sometimes do we really understand the simplicity of the Gospel and God's supernatural provision for us. I often think that we simply just complicate things with our own thoughts, beliefs, experiences, etc...especially those that don't line up with the word of God.

In this Chapter, we find Elihu, who is somewhat of a comforter of Job's during his time of distress, offering up a speech to Job concerning the way he is handling his current condition and why it may be going the way it is. His speech actually last from chapters 32-37. His tone is different from the others who were comforting Job, as they ascribed his current circumstances as punishment for some wrong doing of Job's. Elihu chose to focus on the ways in which Job was reacting to the things that were happening to him.

In doing so, Elihu makes this statement in verse 11 of chapter 36, telling Job that if God's people would simply obey Him and serve Him, they would spend their days in prosperity and their years in pleasures. How would Elihu know that? I could only deduce that either he has personally experienced it, or knows someone who has. He certainly knows Job, and we know Job was an extremely rich man before and after his trials.

What I believe Elihu was trying to express was the simplicity and ease at which we should live richly, prosperously, and pleasurably in the kingdom of God. The peace, love, mercy, grace, comfort, provision, wisdom, anointing, and overflow of God is promised to those who simply obey & serve God. How hard is that? I mean hard is it? Believe it or not, to some people, namely CHRISTIANS, its extremely hard. We get in our own heads and think we know best, pushing aside the instruction of God to do it our way.

I believe there is a life and lifestyle (John 10:10) God wants us to experience that is so extravagantly rich, peaceful, and long lasting. A life unlike anything we've ever seen or experienced. A life that there is no example of anywhere in the is tailor made specifically for us and is just one of a kind. I also believe that many of us will never experience it because we don't want to obey and serve God. He's saying clearly to us "it ain't hard to live rich"! I'm a firm believer that people would rather it be hard. We have the "it's too good to be true" complex. Living a rich, prosperous, pleasurable life can't be this easy. People would rather work hard and credit their hard work than God for their prosperity and success.

Well based on this text, yes it can be this easy and I am determined to see the fruition of it in my life. It's already happening. Every day filled with rich prosperity and every year of my life being extremely pleasurable and glorious. The abundant life that John 10:10 promises is available to us everyday...all we have to do is obey & serve Him. Can you put down your will for His? Can you learn to trust and obey Him? Are you ready to give God a YES and begin serving Him with your whole heart? I know I am. I'm looking forward to spending my days in prosperity and my years in pleasures. One thing I know for sure: living rich might be rare nowadays...but it ain't hard!!!
